BUS
TRANSPORTATION AT LARKSPUR 2009-2010
There is only one scheduled full-size bus for
Larkspur. Kindergarten students living in the south-east quadrant
below Peter Robertson (over 1.0 km from the school) are the ONLY
students who qualify for bussing. There will be a few older siblings
of these children who will be having Fill Up the Bus privileges and
some of them will act as bus patrollers. Bus arrival and departure
times as well as stops will be listed on the student's bus privilege
card. The Kindergarten teachers and Mr. Bartalos will hand out these
cards. Please have your child ready and waiting at the bus stop at
least 10 minutes prior to the time indicated. The times will be
inaccurate for the first couple of weeks as the drivers learn their
routes and stops. No student is allowed to ride the bus without a
card and signed rule sheets. Drivers
WILL NOT leave Kindergarten children nor their siblings at a stop if
a parent/guardian is not there to meet them.
If there is nobody there, the child(ren) will be returned to the
school.

Safety
Students who must cross the road should wait
until the bus has stopped and activated its stop arm and flashing
lights. When the oncoming traffic has stopped, students should look
both ways for the driver's signal before stepping onto the road. When
getting off the bus, students should walk at least ten steps in
front of the bus, look both ways and wait for the driver's signal
before proceeding in front of the bus to cross the road. It is
important that they cross with the protection of the stop arm and
signals instead of waiting for the bus to pass.
