NUTRITION BREAKS
Our time=
table
includes two Nutrition Breaks instead of two recess periods and a lunch
hour. We have discovered that=
this
provides optimal learning, recreation and nutrition opportunities for our
students. It reduces the numb=
er of
interruptions to the learning day and provides potentially two periods of t=
ime
when extracurricular activities can take place. It also has been shown that the 20
minute outdoor period is better for our students in the extreme temperatures
often experienced during the winter months.
We would
appreciate it if your son/daughter's lunch could be divided into two halves
with an additional drink so that your son/daughter can have a balanced
diet. A good diet contributes=
to
better learning. Please make =
sure
to include a container of water for the day. Students are encouraged to drink f=
rom
this throughout their learning day.
Please do not send pop or soda with your child and we ask that no gl=
ass
containers be sent. Packing m=
eals
in a second, durable plastic bag protects the contents of the
backpack if anything leaks. (=
This
happens often so it's a good practise to follow.)
LITTERLESS LUNCH
Students=
are
encouraged to bring their snacks and lunches to school in re-usable
containers. All food, drink
containers, and litter are to be taken home each day.
